CRUZ SPEED: American football player Victor Cruz, accompanied by his longtime girlfriend Elaina Watley, was the top celebrity draw at the Valentino men’s show in Paris on Wednesday.
The Super Bowl champion is no stranger to the fashion scene, having started the men’s clothing label Young Whales with his former teammate Nate Collins in 2010. Now, he is turning his hand to journalism: Cruz, who also attended the Raf Simons show later the same day, is covering the Paris men’s shows for Vanity Fair.
His main gig, however, remains his most pressing concern. The wide receiver hinted he is close to signing a long-term deal with his team, the New York Giants. “It’s going well, it’s moving in the right direction, so we’re excited,” he said.
Further down the row was Adèle Exarchopoulos, attending her first fashion show just weeks after collecting the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival with her costar Léa Seydoux for “Blue Is the Warmest Color,” the controversial film in which they play lesbian lovers.
Exarchopoulos, threatening to spill out of her low-cut dress, was flanked by her boyfriend, fellow actor Jérémie Laheurte, whom she met on the set of the movie. The 19-year-old deflected further questioning, saying she was under a gag order until the film is released in October. “My agent is going to kill me if I talk to you,” she said.
Laheurte, a former model, volunteered that he had starred in his share of fashion shows, but this was his first time as a guest. “It’s fun, I’m happy,” he said.
