BACK PROJECTION: Jean-Paul Goude had an ulterior motive for attending the Issey Miyake Men show in Paris today. The photographer, who came with his wife Karen, recently had a Skype chat with Miyake, whom he hasn’t seen for three decades, during which they discussed working together again.
"If I feel inspired by it, I will do a photo. I'm going to think about it," he said. "Creating a beautiful image for Issey is marvelous, because he really is a class above the rest."
Goude is preparing to take his career retrospective, which bowed at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris last year, to Moscow, where it is scheduled to open at Dasha Zhukova's Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in November.
He is mulling a few tweaks to the exhibit, which originally featured a life-sized replica locomotive used in celebrations of the bicentenary of the French Revolution in 1989. "I might not take the locomotive, firstly because it makes no sense — it's a very Parisian souvenir. On top of which, it's ridiculously expensive to ship," he said.
