DOUBLE-HEADER: Ermenegildo Zegna pulled out all the stops Thursday night to fete the opening of two new stores — one on Paris’ Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and the other in cyberspace, the Yoox-operated Zegna in–STORE 3-D digital portal.
“It’s been 25 years that Zegna has been dressing me — for the theater, in town and on the screen,” said actor Alain Delon, among the revelers at the store.
Helping host the after-party with Zegna’s chief executive officer, Gildo Zegna, at Paris’ Palais de Chaillot was model and actress Milla Jovovich, who greets and leads Web surfers through the e-tailer’s functions. “I think that’s the future,” Jovovich enthused, adding she considers herself somewhat of a techno-geek. “Every new gadget, I love to try out.”
There was no shortage of iPads circulating at the soirée, so partygoers could make purchases through Zegna’s online store. All the proceeds made during the event went to the charity Artists for Peace & Justice, on whose advisory board Jovovich sits. (Ten percent of online sales made on Zegna’s digital portal until Dec. 31 also going to the foundation.)
“It’s definitely online shopping for me [that] I love, because — especially in Los Angeles — when you go shopping there are always photographers everywhere,” continued Jovovich. “It’s just kind of awkward. So a lot of times you stay at home, you buy something. If it’s too small or too big you send it back. They send you something else. It’s easy.”
Actress Zofia Borucka, who is expecting in September with husband and actor Jean Reno, said she shops online, too, especially for baby-related gear. For his part, Reno’s e-tail purchases are more in the realm of music and Apple products. He’s currently working on a French comedy, called “Comme un chef” (or “Like a Chef,” in English). It’s due out in 2012. The evening was capped off with a set by actress and singer Emmanuelle Seigner.
