PERMANENT RESIDENCY: Get ready to see a lot of Clemens Schick on the red carpet: The German actor has three movies premiering at the Berlinale next month.
They include “Praia do Futuro,” the latest feature from director Karim Aïnouz, which was shot between Berlin and Fortaleza, in northern Brazil. “I would say that ‘Praia do Futuro’ is the most important work I’ve ever done in my career,” Schick said at the Y-3 show in Paris on Sunday.
“It was absolutely thrilling. We were rehearsing and preparing this movie for two months, which, in the film business, is absolutely extraordinary,” he explained. “It was a challenging story. It’s about two men who do not call themselves gay but who sort of start having feelings for each other.”
Louise Monot, meanwhile, recently shot the pilot for "The After," a new series by "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter that will be released on Amazon Studios in February.
"I play a Frenchwoman who is an actress who lives in the United States. She meets a group of eight people, who are the main characters in the show, and they have to help each other," she said.
If the pilots get positive feedback from viewers, Amazon will produce full seasons that will be available on Prime Instant Video and Lovefilm. Monot will find out next month if the show has been greenlighted, and admitted she has no idea what might be in store for her character.
"But I think it's exciting, even for me, not to know what happens next. That's usually the case anyway for series, I think. You find out gradually — and you just hope you don't die or get cancer or anything like that," she said.
