INTERNAL AFFAIRS: Guests at Prada’s men’s show on Sunday night were in for a modernist treat when they walked into the brand’s space on Via Fogazzaro. “The ideal house,” a series of minimally furnished “rooms,” formed the show set, designed by a division of OMA, the architecture firm cofounded by Miuccia Prada’s pal Rem Koolhaas. Images — including views of the outdoors — were projected on the walls of the rooms.
The audience was seated in a pit in the center of the space and watched the models glide past OMA’s wood, metal and Plexiglas furniture, and everyday objects like guitars and typewriters made of wood or blue foam. After the show, Prada described the set as “a still life of an imaginary bourgeoisie.”
The furniture on display was just a taste of the upcoming series designed by OMA for Knoll: a collection of 12 pieces with a wide variety of uses. The furniture will be launched officially at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in April. And Prada stressed that she has no plans to go into the furniture business.
