Raf Simons delivered a fashion message that was HD in its clarity: roomy jackets and outerwear, sleek pants and — take your pick — either one color head-to-toe or daring color blocks. Everything had the youthful, futuristic gloss that Simons conveys so well, and the pristine quality for which the Sander label is prized.
Monochromatic looks in soft, comforting fabrics accentuated the shapes, and Simons’ straight-line jackets looked new and exciting; the expertly tapered pants right on target.
Proving he has plenty of elbowroom within the confines of minimalism, Simons lined languid anoraks and mackintoshes with vivid colors like mandarin and magenta, and layered up slim thermal knits in eye-catching ways. Minus the surgical smocks and an overzealous use of quilting, this collection is the picture of modernity.
