NEVER THE TWAIN: Paul Simonon says rumors he had a stroke in Australia last month have been greatly exaggerated. “I think people got carried away. I just blacked out, that’s all, and I woke up and I was fine. I went on stage the next day,” the Clash bassist said at the Yves Saint Laurent men’s show in Paris Sunday. Simonon and his girlfriend, Agent Provocateur co-founder Serena Rees, were in town for the birthday of stylist Jerry Stafford and hoped to take in the Claude Monet exhibition at the Grand Palais, which is open 24 hours during its final weekend, following a hugely successful four-month run. Rees has been consulting for firms in fields as diverse as food, fashion and film. “And no lingerie. I’ve done that!” she quipped.
