Gareth Pugh Men's RTW Fall 2009
This London-based designer, known for extreme shapes and futuristic surface treatments in his women’s collections, made his men’s wear debut with about 25 runway looks. Entirely black and pewter with Goth leanings, the collection combined Pugh’s cyborg chic with shredded leggings, satin matador pants and shaggy furs. While clothes covered in spikes looked untouchable, padded pieces were more inviting. Pugh said he was determined not to do a male version of his “stark and slick” women’s line. “I wanted this to be more rough and masculine,” he said. The results were surprisingly grounded.
