Windri Widiesta Dhari aims to create modest yet stylish attire for Muslim women with her NurZahra line, one of two Indonesian labels showing in Tokyo as part of a Jakarta Fashion Week initiative.

For fall, Dhari placed a major emphasis on layering. She kept her silhouettes relaxed, working various combinations of straight pants, tunics, jackets and maxidresses. Indigo, mustard yellow and beige were the primary hues, and she often incorporated Japanese tie-dye and Indonesia Batik techniques used for intricate prints inspired by Islamic architectural elements.

While each look featured a head scarf, Dhari got creative with a series of wide, wraparound hats reminiscent of “The Flying Nun,” as well as a few riffs on traditional Dutch caps.
