Since buying Courrèges in 2011, Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torloting have put the label back on the map with a series of special events and collaborations. Now they’re ready to focus on the fashion, toning down the Sixties references for fall in favor of a more forward-looking aesthetic.
Still, the house’s design team remained faithful to Courrèges’ Space Age spirit by using materials like honeycomb knit and Neoprene for the clean separates including coats with diagonal zippers, funnel-necked jackets and tops and shift dresses with luxe detailing like leather panels and a ribbed mohair collar.
“I think we have gently transposed the Courrèges style to the here and now,” said Torloting. “It’s both pop and luxury, and we are not reneging either aspect.”
Accessories included patent-leather boots and bobbly hats in a chunky cotton knit woven through with pink plastic strands. Next up is a fall line of bags with Eastpak, to be unveiled later this year.
