Front Row at Jean Paul Gaultier

Rihanna and Beth Ditto caught the show in Paris.

COOL ROOM: “Is this really the headquarters for the Communist Party?” asked Beth Ditto, stepping into the central cupola of the Sixties building designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The futuristic venue in Paris is regularly rented out for events like Jean Paul Gaultier’s show on Saturday. “I think it’s kind of amazing,” the singer marveled.

Ditto was still buzzing from presenting the award for Best Original Score at the Césars ceremony the previous night — in French, no less. “I don’t think my French was like, super amazing, but at least I tried. Do you know what, the hardest thing I ever tried to say was fureur. It’s impossible, impossible,” she said, trying to wrap her tongue around the French word for fury.

Rihanna, Aïssa Maïga and Farida Khelfa were among the other guests seated at pulpits in the room.

“It looks like an igloo. J’adore,” exclaimed Noémie Lenoir. The French model and actress said that after her short-lived stint on the French version of “Dancing With the Stars,” she is recording tracks for her debut album, which she hopes to release later this year.

“It’s going to be dark, but positive at the same time,” said Lenoir, who has spoken openly about her suicide attempt in 2010. “It’s autobiographical. It speaks to all women, actually. It’s going to be moving — I hope people like it. I’m going to ask Rihanna for advice.”
