Backstage at Rag & Bone RTW Fall 2014

Bold eyes and sporty hair were spotlighted at Rag & Bone.

Inspired by the French Yé-Yé girls in the mid-Sixties, Gucci Westman working with Revlon, focused on a strong lined eye and luminous skin. “Everyone wanted to be a Yé-Yé,” said Westman. “[It] was a feeling, it was the girl you wanted to be. [She] was very accessible. [She] had a street vibe.” First, Westman applied PhotoReady Perfecting Primer mixed with PhotoReady Skinlight Face Illuminator. Then, she used Illuminace Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes to contour. Next, Westman used a gel liner a few centimeters above the lash line and layered it with liquid liner to make it more precise. “Their one trick is their eyeliner,” said Westman. “She’s not high-maintenance.”

Paul Hanlon for Osis+ looked to street style and created a matte textured messy low pony. “I’m calling it an urban sport knot,” said Hanlon. “It’s slightly dreadlocked and knotted in the back of the hair.” Hanlon began by covering the hair with mousse and rough-dried it for a powdery texture. Next, he applied rubber paste and worked it through the roots. Then, he covered the entire head in mattifying powder and back-combed with his fingers to mimic dreadlocks. Hanlon gathered the hair at the nape of the neck and secured it with elastic, leaving some pieces out. To finish, he applied strong-hold hairspray and a gummy paste to style and shape the look. “It’s a little bit boyish,” said Hanlon.

Jin Soon Choi for Revlon sarcastically greeted a group of beauty editors with, “Guess what the color is? Surprise! Nude.” Using Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy in Checkmate, which is available in March, Choi kept the nails minimal.
