Waiting at Sir Stage37, the dark, cavernous space in Hell's Kitchen for Narciso Rodriguez's runway show to begin, Jada Pinkett-Smith and her daughter, Willow quietly slipped into the venue to take their front row seats led by two large body guards.
Clearly pros, the mother-daughter duo graciously smiled and took direction from a small herd of photographers, who crowded around for a quick family portrait.
"This is actually my first Narcisco show," admited Pinkett-Smith, who wore a red, body-skimming Rodriguez dress. "I love his designs."
Nearby, Willow, whose hair was slicked in a cool mohawk, continued to entertain the cameramen with a sly grin. Her mother kept an eye on her, as she described her various projects, which include producing "The Queen Latifa Show," a documentary called "Free Angela & All Political Prisoners" and the remake of "Annie" with her husband, Will Smith.
So where is Mr. Smith?
"He's in Rio," she said with a chuckle. "Sometimes he comes to fashion shows, but this is mommy and daughter time."
