ROCK IT: Just two weeks after her first win at the Césars, the French equivalent of the Oscars, where she received a statuette for best new actress, France’s most promising rock ’n’ roll star Izia Higelin explained she was already back at work. “I’m writing my third album; I only have five songs for now, so I don’t know the name yet,” she said, sitting in the front row of the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac show on Tueday. But Higelin did divluge it would be more pop this time, “more minimalistic, less drums.”
And what of her budding movie career? “It’s kind of a secret, but I will start shooting in September,” she revealed, adding it would take place on this side of the Atlantic, although the U.S. is on her radar, too. “Fingers crossed.”
Alexandra Richards is back in school. After six years of DJing, the daughter of Patti Hansen and Keith Richards is learning how to make jewelry. “I studied at the SVA in New York and Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris, learning my basics,” she said.
Richards revealed that her own jewelry could see the light of day as early as next year, but that she was still “very focused” on her music. “[I’m] possibly DJing at the New York New York party tonight, which goes very late. I usually feel it out, play a lot of rock ’n’ roll, indie and electronic music,” she said.
Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, the creative director of his father’s Castelbajac Lignée collection, said he was scouting locations to set up shop for the new line. “The idea is to take a basic Castelbajac and inhabit it with a twist,” he explained. Store openings are expected for the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014 simultaneously in Paris and the U.S.
Leigh Lezark, Mademoiselle Yulia, Chantal Thomass and Maxime Simoëns also attended the show.
