MILAN — “Sixties, but not retro” was the inspiration behind hairstylist Luigi Murenu’s long bangs that referenced cultural figures such as Marianne Faithfull.

Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Light Foam was added to half-dried, extension-laden hair. A one-inch curling iron was run through and ends were left straight. After middle-parting, the bang extensions were applied and cut shorter in the middle, longer at the temples.

Since Murenu’s bangs covered most of the models’ eyes, makeup artist Lisa Butler emphasized a beige-toned lip. Oak and Cork Lip Pencils from MAC Cosmetics were drawn under the bottom lip to affect a larger pout. The line was brought straight up the middle to cleave the bottom lip in two and the “V” of the Cupid’s bow was sharply defined. Finally, the outer lip corners were highlighted and all lines were smudged with Stormy Pink Pro Longwear Paint Pot.

“It’s a modern take on Sixties London, but not too theatrical or nostalgic,” Butler said. “Luminous but matte” skin was prepped with Mineralize Satinfinish. Then Butler delicately “spotted-in” freckles across the nose and cheeks with the Oak and Cork Lip Pencils, pressed with fingers. If models had natural moles, they were emphasized.

On eyes, Feline Kohl powder liner darkened the top lash line and black liner was run inside the eye "so that there's no flesh left in there," Butler noted. Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil was run into the waterline. Eyelids were rubbed with frosty-hued Plum Dandy Lipstick. Number Four fake lashes were applied and coated with mascara.
