Front Row at Miu Miu

Guests included Mia Wasikowska, Brit Marling and Michelle Dockery.

GIRL POWER: The “girl meets boy” message that Miuccia Prada sent out with her trouser suits at Miu Miu was echoed in the front row. Miu Miu poster girl Léa Seydoux was sporting a new pixie cut at the show, while Brit Marling was talking female empowerment.

“It is difficult in general to be a woman in the world. When you’re in a room filled with men, the men are often looking to the other men, even if a girl is pitching, they’re asking the other men how they feel about it and rarely looking at the woman,” Marling said of Hollywood. Her next two projects both have a political slant. “The Company You Keep,” directed by Robert Redford, is a thriller about a former member of the radical left organization Weather Underground, and “The East,” which she co-wrote, focuses on anarchists and the Occupy Wall Street movement.

In a similar vein, Kate Mara is about to start filming a TV series directed by David Fincher titled “House of Cards” opposite Kevin Spacey, whose character is trying to take down the government. “I play a reporter for the Washington Herald,” she explained. Mia Wasikowska will be seen opposite Nicole Kidman in “Stoker,” directed by South Korea’s Chan-wook Park, of “Oldboy” fame. “It’s sort of like a psycho-sexual drama thriller,” she said.

Michelle Dockery said she would head back to England to keep filming the third series of “Downton Abbey,” but was mum on details. Marc Jacobs spent the show tapping his feet to the Björk soundtrack: They were shod in pilgrim shoes with crystal buckles. “They’re women’s — I don’t care,” he said.
