REEL STORIES: Yves Saint Laurent confirmed its reputation as one of Paris Fashion Week’s hottest tickets with a front row that included Isabelle Huppert, Kristin Scott Thomas, Kanye West, Ronnie Wood and Florence Welch. Jane Birkin, who took in the show with her daughter Lou Doillon, said she was taking time off after completing yet another project about her former husband Serge Gainsbourg, the French singer-songwriter who died 20 years ago this year. Birkin compiled her old Super 8 footage of Gainsbourg for “My Private Images of Serge,” a documentary screened on Franco-German network Arte late last month. “I was fed up with doing interviews, I’ve already done so many that I thought, this is the last thing I can give. I’ve got nothing left,” she said. While editing the footage, Birkin discovered that some of the reels had been stolen, but she got them back with the help of her lawyer -- though she would not name the culprit. “A fiend who took them 17 years ago,” was all she would say.
