BAND ON THE RUN: Duran Duran members Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor took in the early Versace show Friday night, as they were expected to play at a party hosted by Italian Vogue and Hogan later that evening. The gig was a warm-up for their upcoming tour of the U.S. and Britain following the release of their 13th album, “All You Need is Now.”
After three decades in the business, each member has developed his own routine for dealing with the rigors of the road. “I like a mug of tea before going to bed,” noted John Taylor. “I don’t know about Nick.” Rhodes paused for thought. “A small goblet of virgin’s blood,” he said.
At the second show, it took a double take to recognize a newly platinum blonde M.I.A. “It’s very Donatella Versace,” she said of her hair. Poppy Delevigne also attended, with her boyfriend, British actor James Cook, in tow.
“Fifteen years later, people still really like Duran Duran,” designer Sofia Kokosalaki said later at the Vogue/Hogan event, where the likes of Milan’s mayor Letizia Moratti, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Diesel chief Renzo Rosso, Olivier Theyskens, Luisa Beccaria, Margherita and Teresa Missoni, Moncler’s Remo Ruffini, M.I.A. and Karolina Kurkova sipped Champagne and nibbled on pasta and tuna carpaccio.
After dinner, Le Bon, with a black and white scarf around his neck, warmed up his voice to perform new tunes and old favorites before 1,400 guests.
