Angela Missoni's Birthday Soiree
"Who needs caviar?" Rosita Missoni asked at the surprise party Thursday night for her designing daughter's 50th birthday. "Angela has always loved polenta. I thought we wouldn't serve anything super fancy and just go with what would make her happy," she said of Italy's poor man's grits.
Angela Missoni's birthday actually falls on December 26, and the celebration was a well-kept secret until one of her friends let it slip the day before. No matter: The birthday girl looked suitably impressed when she showed up at the venue where the show was held a few hours earlier. Among the guests, in addition to the large Missoni clan, were Mario Testino and Margherita Missoni's childhood friend Allegra Versace.
