It was only rock 'n' roll backstage at Yigal Azrouël on Friday morning.

It was only rock 'n' roll backstage at Yigal Azrouël on Friday morning, as hairstylist Teddy Charles created a straight, greased look and makeup artist Polly Osmond did a dark, smoky, catlike eye.

"The inspiration was rock 'n' roll — street," said Charles, who, working for Redken, first blew out the hair, then applied Redken Spray Starch for a "straight, romantic touch with some texture."

The look was finished with a straightening iron and a Redken straightening balm called Align — but lending texture to the look were some flyaways on the sides and back of the dos as models strutted down the catwalk.

Osmond, meanwhile, who was working on a freelance basis but using MAC Cosmetics, described the eyes as "catlike, a really dark, super matte, smoky eye." She added, "There are lots of layers of black pencil, eye shadow and lots of mascara to create a really dense look."

She blanked out the rest of the face, with a minimal amount of foundation applied to the lower eyelids and brushed down onto the cheeks. Lips were kept pale, with a touch of color that was blotted with concealer. "There's no inspiration," said Osmond, "only rock 'n' roll."
