Hairstylist Kevin Ryan of Rsession Tools created a side ponytail style intended to look like "a pretty girl who did her hair on the way out the door and then fell asleep on the bus." Ryan used a hair elastic with a hook on one end to fasten the side ponytail in place. He then curled a few strands of the ponytail around a curling iron to make it look a bit imperfect, and finished by wrapping one strand around the elastic.

For the face, Romy Soleimani for MAC Cosmetics created an equally youthful look, applying a bright coral-red lipstick called Vegas Volt on lips and cheeks, using her fingertips to achieve a stained finish. Eyelids were bare, and eyes were lined with black liquid liner, which Soleimani slightly winged out at the ends.

"She's a downtown girl who frequents galleries. She's not ladylike," said the makeup artist. "It's a soft lip with a graphic eye."
