Fairy Tale Reigns at Erin Fetherston

Sebastien Tardif for Bobbi Brown took fairy tales to a darker side for Erin Fetherson's fall 2009 collection.

Sebastien Tardif for Bobbi Brown took fairy tales to a darker side for Erin Fetherson's fall 2009 collection.

"A tin solder meets a fairy tale ballerina more on the darker side," said Tardif. Skin was "satin yet matte," while haunting makeup translated the strong statement of the line." Eyes, which remained unlined, were defined with slate shadow from basic collection and shades, smokey ice and charcoal haze provided a bit of metallic sheen on the eyelid. Lips were described as "red" and crimson metallic. "Lipstick looks like a strong defined apple" and gave off a sheen of "super shiny berry," said Tardif, who enhanced faces with "soft pale pink difused cheeks."

Hair stylist Lyndell Mansfield worked for Bumble and Bumble to create a girl who stepped out of a fantasy world. "[She's] wicked and destroyed a little," said Mansfield, who gave hair texture by combing it back then crimping sections from the part line. "It's soft and edgy texture," said Mansield. Hair was pulled into a ponytail and tucked under, resembling a bulb at the bottom so when looks walked down the runway, it appeared to be "blowing in the wind." Mansfield used Bumble and Bumble products, namely the Does it All Spray, which helps protect hair from heat. Hair showcased "two different types of texture," and had "hard and soft" elements playing together. "This girl is part of a wicked fairy tale," said Mansfield. "You would find her in an antique toy shop, she is like an animated character yet strong."
