Masculine Appeal at Alexander Wang

"A little bit androgynous, a little bit masculine" is how makeup artist and Shiseido artistic director Dick Page described the look at Alexander Wang's show Saturday. "It's a bit sexy, but a bit tough as well," said Page, who achieved this by applying foundation in a shade or two darker than the model's skin tone to contour the cheeks, before dusting the face with Shiseido's Translucent Loose Powder, for a "very matte finish."

Page skipped the mascara, but lined the eyes with brown pencil and applied a silvery eye shadow for a murky effect.

Lips were neutral and monochrome—painted with a blend of Shiseido's Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in brown with the brand's Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Spiced Cream.

Hairstylist Odile Gilbert used Shiseido's Japanese hair line Designtex 03 to create "shiny, masculine" styles. "This is a determined woman, a strong woman," said Gilbert. To achieve this, she made a deep side part and applied Designtex 03's gel to half-damp hair for shine and texture on top and in the front, while leaving the back of hair messy and down for contrast. Gilbert then slicked back a section from the front coif, fastening it and crossing it with clips meant to mimic a corset halfway down the head. To finish off the look, she used a curling iron to add wave to the loose hair in back for a "maney, almost lionesslike" look.
