LOOKING THE PART: Jennifer Lawrence’s training for her role as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” saga includes running, archery, climbing, combat and yoga — but she says all that is preferable to the seven hours of makeup she had to endure in order to play the villain Mystique in “X-Men: First Class.”
For the sequel, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” — currently shooting for a 2014 release — she gets to wear a blue bodysuit, cutting down a little on the daily prep.
“Makeup is always harder than training — it’s harder than most anything,” Lawrence said at the Dior couture show in Paris on Monday. The actress, who’s featured in ads for the Miss Dior handbag, joined guests including Gemma Arterton, Léa Seydoux, Marisa Berenson, Leelee Sobieski and Peter Marino.
Arterton will be seen next in “Runner Runner,” a crime thriller set in the underground world of online gambling. As a femme fatale caught between Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, she got to wear her share of glamorous outfits. “The main one I had was this beautiful Lanvin dress. It was green and it had a very Jessica Rabbit kind of vibe — I have red hair in it,” explained the British actress, who was sporting a tan from a recent stay in Thailand.
Seydoux, fresh from collecting the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for “Blue Is the Warmest Color,” said she plans to take some time off before filming starts next fall on Bertrand Bonello’s “Saint Laurent,” in which she plays the late Loulou de la Falaise. The project is one of two Saint Laurent biopics in the works.
Sobieski has put her acting career on hold to focus on being a mother and wife. She nurtures her artistic streak through painting, though she has yet to exhibit her work. “I feel like because I did acting before, I have to be careful and make sure that the first thing that I show isn’t embarrassing,” she said.
