Chris Mitchell has been named publisher of Condé Nast Traveler, succeeding Lisa Hughes, who went to The New Yorker. Mitchell has been the publisher of Wired for less than a year, following a four-year stint at Details. At Wired, he attempted to position the book as a luxury play — with unfortunate timing. Year-to-date Wired’s ad pages are down 57 percent. A successor at Wired is expected to be named by early next week, said a spokeswoman for the company.
