LONDON — A year from now, Condé Nast UK will be cracking the books.

The London-based publisher of magazines such as British Vogue, Tatler and GQ has unveiled plans for The Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, set to open in September 2012. With up to 300 students in its first year, the college will offer paying students a year-long British Vogue fashion foundation course, as well as 10-week intensive fashion courses, the company said.

House & Garden interior design and decoration courses will also be created, as will various M.A.-level courses. Students will be offered courses in history, print and digital journalism, luxury brand marketing and other business skills. There will be a board of education and fashion advisers, and Condé Nast said it is in the advanced stages of acquiring premises in central London. Susie Forbes, currently editor of Easy Living, has been named the principal of the college.

Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Condé Nast UK, added: “Condé Nast is perfectly placed to enter the world of education. We look forward to becoming the go-to academy for students from Britain and further afield.”

Deborah Joseph, currently editor of Brides magazine, will succeed Forbes, who has edited Easy Living since its launch in 2005. Jade Beer, who has been acting editor of Brides during Joseph’s maternity leave, has been named editor of the title.
