NOW HIRING: WSJ. Magazine’s staff is expanding. Editor in chief Deborah Needleman has found a deputy editor in Michael Caruso, the peripatetic magazine man who was top editor of Los Angeles Magazine (named editor in 1995), Details (1997), News Corporation’s Maximum Golf (1999) and Men’s Journal (2003). After leaving Men’s Journal in 2005, Caruso was an analyst with OpenGate Capital and an editor-at-large with Portfolio. Needleman has also brought on graphic designer Patrick Li to become creative director. Li, the founder of the design firm Li Inc., has done art direction for Vogue China and brand development for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Rodarte, Thakoon, and Estée Lauder’s Smashbox Cosmetics. Jason Wu described Li in The New York Times in 2009 as the “the best-kept secret in fashion.” And as previously reported, Newsweek and The Daily Beast managing editor Brekke Fletcher has just started as managing editor of WSJ. Magazine.
