WIRED FOR PROFIT: The U.K. edition of Wired magazine is getting into the consulting business — and the editors are doing the heavy lifting. Condé Nast U.K. said Thursday that Wired Consulting will be a bespoke business consultancy, sharing its “access and insight on the techniques, technologies, and people driving change.” The aim is to enable businesses to develop future strategies.
Editor in chief David Rowan said the editors at Wired are learning more from their interviewees — designers, entrepreneurs, and technologists — than they can fit into the magazine. “So now we are taking that knowledge to help businesses plan ahead, based on the insights and data on which Wired’s reputation is built.”
Condé Nast said Wired Consulting will offer a range of services, including trend presentations, full-day and half-day workshops and bespoke projects.
The Wired brand extension comes on the heels of another marriage of magazines and commerce at Condé Nast. As reported, British Vogue will unveil the Vogue Festival in April. The consumer-facing event will feature lectures and panel discussions, in addition to makeovers, photo shoots, and demonstrations. The event will take place from April 20 to 21.
