Time Inc. continued to tweak its business in preparation for its spin-off in the second quarter from parent company Time Warner Inc.

On the marketing side, the New York-based firm said Susan Parkes would assume the senior vice president of marketing and strategy role, working across the portfolio of executive vice president Todd Larsen, who oversees titles such as People, Time and Sports Illustrated. Parkes will continue to work on the marketing for People and manage the event group for People, Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, Essence, People en Español and People StyleWatch. Lisa Simpson, special projects director, will now report to Parkes, and “work closely” with editors Jess Cagle of People and Ariel Foxman of InStyle.

Vice president of strategy and planning Bettina Cisneros will join Parkes’ team and report to her.

Also on the marketing side, Regina Buckley has been appointed senior vice president of strategy and operations, reporting to executive vice president Evelyn Webster, who oversees titles such as InStyle, Real Simple, Essence, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine and Departures.

The communications teams were also reorganized. Senior vice president Nancy Valentino will now oversee news, sports and entertainment titles and report to Larsen. Daniel Kile, who manages the news group communications, and Scott Novak, who manages sports communications, will both report to Valentino.

Communications for Webster’s titles will be managed by vice presidents Beth Mitchell and Jill Davidson. Mitchell will retain communications for InStyle and pick up People StyleWatch, Essence and People en Español, while Davidson will manage communications for a host of titles, including Departures, Real Simple, Southern Living, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Black Ink and All You.
