MADRID — Spain’s fashion magazine Telva will hand out its annual awards Oct. 24 at the Palacio de Correos, a glassed-in annex hugging City Hall and the city’s hot new party venue. The winners are Gucci creative director Frida Giannini (best international designer); Madrid-based Joaquin Trias, who showed for the first time in Paris earlier this month (best Spain designer); and Elio Berhanyer (lifetime achievement). In addition, the 82-year-old Berhanyer — who shuttered his atelier a year ago after a 50-year run due to the economic crisis here — won the Ministry of Culture’s Nacional de Diseño de Moda award last week that included a $40,000 prize. Royal daughter, the Infanta Elena, is expected at the Telva dinner, a spokesman said.
