SPADE SELECTS ALTUZARRA: Kate Spade New York said Wednesday that Altuzarra will be the recipient of a full-page ad in Vogue’s September 2013 issue. Kate Spade will produce the creative and will purchase the media space for the full-page ad. The ad is the result of a three-month-long initiative that the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and Kate Spade partnered on to help designers take their brands to the next level through marketing. Other designers that competed were Albertus Swanepoel, Cushnie et Ochs, Pamela Love and Robert Geller.
The designers were asked to present a concept for a full-page ad in Vogue as their final project after participating in the brand-building seminars. Each designer’s submission was reviewed by a committee that included Steven Kolb, chief executive officer of the Council of Fashion Designers of America; Deborah Lloyd, president and creative director of Kate Spade New York; Mark Holgate, fashion news director at Vogue; Ed Filipowski, president, media relations at KCD; Trey Laird, president and executive creative director at Laird + Partners, and Sebastian Kim, photographer.
