Those wondering if the drama behind the cameras at “Project Runway” — specifically, The Weinstein Group uprooting the reality show from Bravo to Lifetime next season, and “Runway” judge Nina Garcia losing her job at Elle and reemerging at Marie Claire — would turn off viewers from tuning in for the season five premiere can now rest easy. Last Wednesday’s premiere on Bravo registered nearly 3 million viewers, the highest premiere viewership in the show’s history, according to figures from The Nielsen Co. The show has captured a significantly larger viewership since its launch — the first season premiere garnered just 354,000 viewers, but the program began to attract a larger audience after Bravo aired reruns of the show near midseason; the second season’s premiere racked up 925,000 total viewers. The first episodes of seasons three and four drew 2.4 million total viewers and 2.9 million total viewers, respectively. Whether the 3 million stick around to see the second episode tonight remains to be seen.
