Steven Pleshette Murphy, president and chief executive of Rodale, is stepping down after nine years at the company.
In a statement, Murphy said he decided not to renew his contract and take time off to pursue "creative interests."
Maria Rodale, granddaughter of company founder J.I Rodale will succeed Murphy as ceo, effective Sept. 1.
“I have been preparing my whole life to lead Rodale,” said Rodale. “As chairman and ceo, I will work to build on the strong foundation we have established during the past ten years to take this incredible company to even greater heights.”
She has worked at the company since 1987, most recently has editor in chief of Rodale.com.
