Memo Pad: Condé Nast Awards Publishers... Deadlines for AMI...

There was no jaunt to the beach, but Condé Nast still doled out awards to its publishers Tuesday night.

RECOGNITION FOR A JOB…: There was no jaunt to the beach, but Condé Nast still doled out awards to its publishers Tuesday night at the close of its annual publishers meeting. Chief executive officer Chuck Townsend awarded the Publisher of the Year prize to Kim Kelleher, vice president and publisher of Self, where ad pages declined only 3.2 percent last year to 1,322 pages, according to Publishers Information Bureau, at a time when most other titles were registering double-digit drops. Townsend also gave out awards to individual titles for their ad page performances: Cookie, platinum; Self and Allure, gold; Details, silver, and Golf World, bronze. Chief operating officer John Bellando was named corporate executive of the year. — Stephanie D. Smith

MORE TIME: American Media Inc., publishers of Shape, Star and the National Enquirer, issued yet another deadline extension on Jan. 26 — which ended at midnight on Tuesday — to give straggling note holders a little extra time to join the roughly 95 percent that have already agreed to its outstanding tender offer for the $570 million outstanding senior subordinated notes due in 2009 and $150 million senior subordinated notes due in 2011, along with $5.4 million senior subordinated notes also due in 2011. Bondholders have been offered a substantial stake in the company and new notes, due in 2013. — Amy Wicks
