ON THE UP AND UP: Christopher Martinez is switching gears. The vice president, design director of Barneys New York since March 2011 has been promoted to vice president, digital creative director, a newly created role. He will be responsible for leading the visual, interactive and user design experience for barneys.com and barneyswarehouse.com, as well as Barneys’ private shopping channel, mobile, iPad and other omnichannel digital projects. Prior to joining Barneys in March of 2011, Martinez served as senior art director at the The New York Times’ T Magazine. His former role of vice president, design director has not yet been filled.
