Oh Snap

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom seem to keep New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham from doing his job.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom seem to keep New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham from doing his job — milling about Manhattan’s streets or celebrity-filled galas in his signature blue jacket to snap the impeccably — or wackily — dressed for his “On the Street” and “Evening Hours” columns in the paper’s Sunday Styles section. This September, to mark New York Fashion Week, Bergdorf Goodman and the Times will honor the respected paparazzo by staging a retrospective of his work. From Sept. 5 to 16, Cunningham’s most iconic snapshots will be exhibited at Bergdorf’s Fifth Avenue windows and inside the store. Jim Gold, president and chief executive officer of Bergdorf Goodman, said Cunningham’s work ”captures perfectly how New Yorkers interpret fashion and make style their own.” And since Cunningham also likes to zoom around town on his bicycle,  Bergdorf’s and the Times are teaming up with the New York City Department of Transportation to host an invitation-only party at the store.
