BOOK CLUB: Designers Peter Som, Jeff Halmos, Rachel Antonoff and Vena Cava’s Lisa Mayock stopped by the new Thomas Sires store in NoLIta on Tuesday evening to celebrate the paperback publication of mutual friend Sloane Crosley’s “How Did You Get This Number.” Fellow writers Paula Froelich, fresh off a trip to Vietnam, and Elizabeth Spiers, fresh from a day editing The Observer, were also on hand to toast the New York Times best-selling scribe on her collection of witty essays.
“You have to modulate your definition of productivity. I wear pajama bottoms a lot more than I should,” said Crosley of her new full-time life as a writer, having quit her 10-year job as a publicist at Vintage in December, following the success of her first book, “I Was Told There’d Be Cake.” That evening, however, the youthful Crosley was garbed in a pretty, fitted white dress from the Thomas Sires collection, a just-launched line and retail store from Fiona Thomas and Allison Sires, who both left positions at Loeffler Randall to create their own label.
