Meredith's Jack Griffin Resigns

Jack Griffin, who oversaw Meredith Corp.’s publishing arm as president of its national media group, abruptly quit.

ADIEU, MEREDITH: Jack Griffin, who oversaw Meredith Corp.’s publishing arm as president of its national media group, abruptly resigned Monday to, as the company put it, “pursue another opportunity.” Tom Harty, vice president of the publisher’s magazine group, will succeed him in leading the division, which generates about $1 billion in annual revenues. Griffin couldn’t be reached Monday to explain the exact nature of his new opportunity. Meredith vice president of communications Art Slusark said the parties split on good terms. Griffin had been with the company since 2003, when he joined on from Parade, the weekly newspaper supplement owned by Condé Nast parent Advance Publications. Harty has managed the magazine group at Meredith since 2004. — M.L.
