Menkes to Host Luxury Summit in Berlin

TECHNO PARADE: Making her first appearance at Berlin Fashion Week, International Herald Tribune fashion editor Suzy Menkes took the opportunity to dish a few details on the IHT annual luxury conference, which will take place this winter in Germany’s capital.   Themed “Techno Luxury,” the event will take place at Berlin’s Ritz-Carlton on November 17 and 18 and discuss technology, marketing opportunities and maintaining brand integrity in a digital world.  Speakers are set to include supermodel Claudia Schiffer,  Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey, Tomas Maier, creative director for Bottega Veneta, and Frida Giannini, creative director for Gucci.  Menkes, who chairs the conference, has been a visible presence in Berlin, taking in shows at the tents, dropping into Wolfgang Joop’s Wunderkind boutique and chatting backstage with German designer Michael Sontag, who showed his debut collection Friday.
