BIDDING ADIEU: Dominique Deroche, the longtime communications head for retired couturier Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé, is retiring this month. She joined YSL in 1966 and has been a member of the designer's inner circle ever since. More recently, she spearheaded public relations for the Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent Foundation in Paris. "It's a tough decision to leave after working with two exceptional personages," said Deroche, 63. "But it was time." — Robert Murphy
THERE IS GROWTH OUT THERE: It's not news that 2008 will be a tough year on the advertising front, but not everyone appears to be feeling the economic pinch. Growth has led People StyleWatch, a Time Inc. fashion and beauty title, to hire its first advertising director. Stacy Callahan comes to the magazine after more than five years at Marie Claire, where she served as executive fashion and retail director. Callahan will report to publisher Michelle Myers, who said more than 30 new advertisers, including American Express, L'Oréal and Ann Taylor, have signed on so far in 2008. Ad pages are up 28 percent through the May issue and the title sold, on average, 548,600 copies at the newsstand during the second half of 2007, according to a spokeswoman. People StyleWatch is published 10 times a year, with a rate base of 650,000. — Amy Wicks
