EASTERN DAWN: Charlotte Ronson hit Tokyo in April with her sister Annabelle Dexter-Jones, twin Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan to celebrate her spring collection, spot trends and, of course, shop. So it should come as no surprise that Ronson's next ad campaign will make its debut in Japanese magazines this fall. For the campaign, photographer Pamela Hanson shot Dexter-Jones and Donald Cumming, frontman for the band The Virgins, on Chrystie and Rivington Streets in New York. "Donald was in my fall '05 campaign shot in Coney Island," said Ronson. "I love Donald, he is both scruffy and handsome. He perfectly complements Annabelle's angelic femininity." No plans are in the works for a U.S. campaign, but images of Cumming and Dexter-Jones will be on display at Ronson's flagship on Mulberry Street. — Amy Wicks

HEARST SHUFFLE: Seventeen has tapped Yesenia Almonte as its new beauty director. Almonte comes to Hearst from Latina magazine, where she served as beauty director for the past five years. While at Latina, she developed Latina Beauty, a publication that addressed the beauty needs and concerns of that market segment. Prior to Latina, Almonte was a beauty assistant at In Style. She replaces Ying Chu, who joined Marie Claire as its beauty director. — A.W.

VOTE NOW: With 20 to choose from, it wasn't a surprise the main topic of conversation at Barneys New York last Thursday was which cover of Vanity Fair's Africa issue, guest-edited by Bono, was the best. Kimora Lee Simmons arrived with Djimon Hounsou, one of the issue's cover stars, and when asked which of the covers was his favorite, besides his own, Hounsou thought for a moment before declaring the Oprah Winfrey and Madonna one a winner. Meanwhile, Simmons, wearing a Versace dress that she described as "a little small," said her favorite was — obviously — the one with Hounsou and Brad Pitt. "It was striking," she said. Simmons' other favorites were the covers with her pal Alicia Keys. Some, though, had an opinion on their not-so-favorite images. "I'll tell you which one I didn't like," said Barneys New York chairman/chief executive Howard Socol. "The one with the president on it." Other attendees at the event celebrating the covers included Graydon Carter and his wife, Anna, Tom and Kathy Freston, John Dempsey, Simon Doonan, Petra Nemcova, Tracy Reese, Emma Roberts and Jennifer Creel. — Stephanie D.
