CHANGE IS GOOD: All the tweaks made to this year’s Academy Awards — two presenters, more best picture nominees than in more than 60 years, etc. — seemed to have paid off. According to preliminary data from Nielsen, an estimated 41.3 million people tuned in to watch the Alec Baldwin- and Steve Martin-hosted event on Sunday, about 15 percent more viewers than last year. It was also the most-watched Oscars since 2005, when hosting duties went to the ever-divisive Chris Rock. Meanwhile, according to Google, Zoe Saldana’s Givenchy Haute Couture gown was the most-searched-for dress of the night, while Miley Cyrus’ Jenny Packham dress came in a close second. Further back, Sandra Bullock’s Marchesa number was third and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Chanel Haute Couture look fourth. — Nick Axelrod
