TALKING TURKEY: “I’m wearing Hakaan,” Seda Domanic said of her red dress by Turkish designer Hakaan Yildirim. The editor and chief of Turkish Vogue welcomed guests including Riccardo Tisci, Olivier Theyskens and Matthew Williamson at the Crillon hotel for the magazine’s launch on Sunday night.

Jessica Stam wears Giles on the cover. “[Giles Deacon’s] brand has just arrived in Turkey so it was important to show something new, and Jessica is young and sexy,” said Mary Fellowes, fashion director of the magazine. The 562-page debut issue boasts 252 pages of advertising, among them ads from Christian Dior, Escada, D&G and a host of Turkish labels. Turkish Vogue has been licensed to media group Dogus in Turkey. The magazine will have a circulation of 80,000 copies in Turkey and neighboring Cyprus, with a cover price of 4 euros, or about $7 at current exchange.

“It is definitely an emerging market,” said Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Condé Nast International.

Meanwhile, Williamson said he’s readying a new book for fall publication. “I hate to say it, but I guess it’s going to be a coffee-table book,” he said, adding: “Although it is quite autobiographical with pictures of me growing up in Manchester, to images of my work. CHANGE IS GOOD: All the tweaks made to this year’s Academy Awards — two presenters, more best picture nominees than in more than 60 years, etc. — seemed to have paid off. According to preliminary data from Nielsen, an estimated 41.3 million people tuned in to watch the Alec Baldwin- and Steve Martin-hosted event on Sunday, about 15 percent more viewers than last year. It was also the most-watched Oscars since 2005, when hosting duties went to the ever-divisive Chris Rock. Meanwhile, according to Google, Zoe Saldana’s Givenchy Haute Couture gown was the most-searched-for dress of the night, while Miley Cyrus’ Jenny Packham dress came in a close second. Further back, Sandra Bullock’s Marchesa number was third and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Chanel Haute Couture look fourth. — Nick Axelrod
