YOUNG PUPS: It's not many film awards where a significant number of the winners are under 18 — or named "Spanky" — but such was the case at the Ghetto Film School's Third Annual Spring Benefit Dinner on Monday night at Bottino restaurant. In front of heavies like Harvey Weinstein, the baby-faced directors received checks from their elders: David O. Russell, Lee Daniels, Elvis Mitchell and Sarah Jones. The much-YouTubed Russell did not disappoint, either. "Wait for it, wait for it," he ordered an overeager Raul Aguirre-Antonetty, who was rushing the podium. "You'll only be 19 once and getting this check from me once. There's going to be more of a buildup."
Meanwhile, school chairman Rachel Horovitz garnered support for her young institution from former sister-in-law Ione Skye, in town shooting her latest film. — E.L.K.
