Malcolm Carfrae Joins Ralph Lauren

He has been named global head of communications, public relations and media.

CARFRAE JOINS RALPH LAUREN: Ralph Lauren Corp. on Wednesday named Malcolm Carfrae global head of communications, public relations and media.

Carfrae, who starts on July 29, has been at Calvin Klein Inc., where, over the past 11 years, he rose to the position of executive vice president and chief communications officer. Prior, the Australia native was senior director at Bryan Morel PR in London.

At Ralph Lauren, he will be responsible for areas such as global public relations, corporate communications, internal communications as well as celebrity relations, and, according to the company, will share oversight of social media and global media planning.

“We are very pleased to welcome Malcolm to Ralph Lauren,” said David Lauren, executive vice president for global advertising, marketing and communications, to whom Carfrae will report. “Malcolm brings extensive experience in fashion p.r. and a strong network of global editorial, media and business relationships. We look forward to having him on board.”

Carfrae will succeed Winnie Lerner, who will remain with the company through the transition. “We would like to thank Winnie for her leadership, her contributions in building our global team and her work in support of recent executive transitions, and we are grateful she has agreed to remain with the company for a short period to help ensure a smooth transition,” Lauren added.
