Lagardère to Sell Ten Publications

The French media group is selling women’s magazine Be, but will hold on to flagship titles like Elle and Paris Match.

LAGARDERE REDUX: Lagardère Active, a division of French media group Lagardère, said it is putting 10 publications on the block as part of a plan to focus on brands with a strong potential for digital development.

 

Lagardère Active wants to sell its women’s magazine Be, in addition to other titles including Maison & Travaux and Psychologies Magazine. In the event that no buyer is found, the reorganization would involve the loss of up to 350 jobs across editorial and other departments, it said.

 

“The aim of this project is to return to growth by focusing on leadership brands with a key potential for digital development,” the company announced following a meeting with staff representatives.

 

Lagardère Active is to focus its activities on five segments: women’s magazines, news, mass market, entertainment and family publications. It will keep flagship titles including Elle and its international editions, Paris Match, Télé 7 Jours and Public.
