Lagardère Active Selling 10 Publications

The division of French media group Lagardère has chosen the joint offer by Belgium’s 4B Media-Groupe Rossel and France’s Reworld Media Group.

LAGARDÈRE REDUX: Lagardère Active, a division of French media group Lagardère, has chosen the joint offer by Belgium’s 4B Media-Groupe Rossel and France’s Reworld Media Group for the sale of 10 of its publications, including Psychologies magazine and women’s monthly Be. The offer includes the transfer of all jobs working for the titles — around 300 across editorial and other departments — and the sale will be completed by Aug. 31, Lagardère said.

The buying offer specifies that the 10 magazines will be split. Psychologies and Première will go to 4B Media, owned by four Belgian media companies including the publisher of Psychologies and Elle in Belgium, while Be and other titles will be acquired by the French Reworld Media, which last year bought Marie France magazine from Marie Claire Group.

“In line with what we are doing with our titles, we have digital and offline development plans for these magazines, both in France and internationally,” said Reworld Media president Pascal Chevalier.

Lagardère put the 10 titles on the block in October 2013 as part of a plan to focus on brands with a strong potential for digital development. Its flagship titles are the French edition of Elle and Paris Match.
