A TOUCH OF CLASS: Hopefully pickles and ham were on the menu for Wednesday’s Rolling Stone and Us Weekly editors’ lunch, where the special guests were cast members from MTV’s hit reality show “Jersey Shore.” Most everyone on the mastheads of both publications attended the lunch, according to a Wenner Media spokesman. And for their part, three of the series’ stars — Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Jenni “JWOWW” Farley — were all a-Twitter about meeting with the music magazine. Perhaps in a fit of overexcitement, Sorrentino tweeted on Saturday that he was “REality king - ON cover of ROlling STone NExt week” (this was denied by the pub’s spokesman), while breakout star Polizzi wrote Wednesday afternoon that she was “at rolling stone having lunch with the big bosses! jerset shoree bitchh.” And Farley, who recently revealed on her Web site that she’s launching her own line of clubwear, told her 44,000-plus Twitter followers, “Out to lunch with rolling stones and US weekly!! I think there is over 100 people here!” During their visit, the entire cast (save early “Shore” defector Angelina Pivarnick) also completed interviews for rollingstone.com and usmagazine.com, which, unlike Twitter, thankfully have copy editors.
In other Rolling Stone news, the magazine has named two new associate publishers, Michael Wolfe and Tracy Monahan, in sales and marketing, respectively. Previously, Wolfe served as vice president and publisher of Best Life, the shuttered Rodale glossy, and, before that, as associate publisher of GQ. Monahan joins the Wenner Media title from Details, where she was associate publisher, creative services. And on the editorial side, director of photography Jodi Peckman has been promoted to creative director.
