JOINING COSMO: Cosmopolitan has found a replacement for the long-time fashion director who left last month. She is Aya Kanai, the head stylist at Shopbop.com, the Amazon-owned e-commerce site. Michelle McCool held the position for 10 years until new editor in chief Joanna Coles came along. In December, soon after a reorganization of the staff that resulted in a handful of layoffs, McCool left to “expand on her fashion consulting career,” in the words of a spokeswoman. Coles has more or less settled on her editorial team and is sticking by creative director Tracy Everding after her first choice, Paul Solomons, decided to stay back at British GQ. Kanai, well known by street-style bloggers, previously had stints at Teen Vogue, as a senior fashion editor, and Nylon.
