Hearst Corp. is promoting one of its own to lead Town & Country.
Jennifer Levene Bruno, the publisher of Veranda, will take over from Valerie Salembier, who is leaving as publisher and chief revenue officer at the end of the year. Hearst was set to make the announcement Thursday morning.
Salembier came to Town & Country last May from Harper’s Bazaar, which she’d run for seven years.
Though Town & Country has not returned to pre-recession heights, when it could easily command over 150 pages for a September issue, the magazine has made strides - ad pages are up to 548 pages through October, nearly 2 percent over last year, according to Media Industry Newsletter.
Meanwhile, Veranda, a smaller shelter title, is over-performing, with 434 pages through October, nearly 17 percent over last year. The magazine also notched a 17 percent uptick the year before, according to Hearst.

Bruno had worked as advertising director at another fashion magazine, Glamour, before Town & Country, but more recently, her experience has been in shelter titles. She had been the associate publisher of House Beautiful before she was appointed to Veranda in August 2010.
The news comes two weeks after Hearst combined the features, market and photography departments of the magazines in its design group, which include House Beautiful, Veranda and Elle Decor, and eliminated an unspecified number of positions. The editor in chief of House Beautiful, Newell Turner, was also kicked up to be the editor in chief of the entire group.
